Earth Near the Center vs. Geocentrism: Conclusion. It's one thing to notice that the most extensive scientific observations ever made seem to place the Earth in a privileged location, apparently even in a galaxy that's virtually in the center of a terrestrially-aligned universe. It's quite another thing to claim, as geocentrists do, that once a day the entire universe, including the planets and our Sun, orbits the Earth. This kind of geocentrism claims that the Earth does not rotate and does not move. If these ideas were true, as geocentrists then admit matter-of-factly, then Neptune speeds around us faster than the speed of light. And if the universe is the size that it is generally believed to be, even by some geocentrists, then the furthest galaxies would be orbiting us at 30 trillion times the speed of light. (See superluminal speed below.) While remaining humble before a God who could, if He wanted to, build such a universe, RSR here rebuts the claim that the Bible and science show that the Earth is stationary.

Kate Mulgrew Narrated Geocentrism Film: In September 2013, when RSR asked Rick Delano, producer of The Principle, if his movie was about geocentrism, he told Bob Enyart that it was not. Rather, he claimed that it was instead about evidence against the big bang. That misrepresentation led RSR to invite scientists and engineers to a special Denver screening of the film for Real Science Radio. As the film ended, in front of Delano, his marketing director, and the gathered audience, Bob Enyart stood up and apologized to the attendees. Today, on the day of the film's Chicago premiere, October 24th, 2014, Real Science Radio hosts Bob and Fred Williams discuss the scientific and biblical arguments below to rebut the documentary. The film claims that the Sun (and the universe) orbits around the Earth every 24 hours. The film attempted to mislead the audience into thinking that its geocentrism was supported by:
1) the latest Planck satellite confirmations of the so-called Axis of Evil
2) the narrator, Kate Mulgrew of Star Trek fame, and
3) the scientists interviewed (including Lawrence Krauss, George Ellis, Michio Kaku, Max Tegmark, and John Hartnett).
None of these in anyway affirm the film's claim of geocentrism. For the enthusiast though, there's plenty of fun science to learn while refuting geocentrism as you can see here...

Hurricanes, Pendulums, Equatorial Bulge, Rotating Core, Geostationary Satellites, Wobble, Quakes & Rotational Speed: Hurricanes, which churn only the lowest portion of the atmosphere, spin in opposite directions in the northern and southern hemispheres, apparently exhibiting the scientifically demonstrable effect of how gas would flow on a rotating sphere (see below). Pendulums too measure the Earth's rotation moving clockwise in the northern hemisphere and counterclockwise in the south (see below). Further, just like the rotating planets that we can empirically measure, Earth too has an equatorial bulge (see below). Also, melted rock within the Earth produces instability (see below), and the lubrication of that melted rock of the outer core enables Earth's entire core to rotate at a different rate relative to the mantle and crust (see below). By the laws of physics, a faster rotating core is a predictable result of global tectonic catastrophe (such as we have undergone) in a planet that possessed angular momentum; but starting the core rotating in a body that had no angular momentum is an impossibility beyond the reach of physics (see below). Earthquakes lead to rotation variability as regularly observed and measured by using various sophisticated technologies (see below), as other understood and measurable factors speed up and slow down our rotation. More than this is the apparent speeding up of the Earth's rotation by 5.25 days per year (see below). Consider too that Earth's equatorial 1,000 mph rotation and 67,000 mph orbit around the sun are calculable by geostationary satellites and the aberration of starlight (below). Then there is the wobble to the Earth's axis (see below), as cyclically affected by annual and other factors, and by earthquakes. This wobble represents imperfection that initially resulted from earthquakes and global catastrophe, but if geocentrism were true, then God made the entire universe to wobble variably around the earth.

* Confirmation of our 2014 RSR Prediction: As predicted on February 21, 2014 at rsr.org/creationist-predictions, "By 2020 (just to put a date on it), powerful and less disputed evidence of biological matter scattered in the solar system will be added to the currently existing apparent evidence." From the reports of evidence of biological material in space, the bolded discoveries include all those published after our prediction, including from 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2020:

* Nature Astronomy Sept. 2020: Phosphine gas in Venus' atmosphere at 20 parts per billion has no known abiotic production but on Earth arises from biological life.
* ARXIV 2020: submitted to Earth and Planetary Astrophysics, Harvard and other scientists have found in meteorite Acfer 086 a polymer including the amino acid glycine which they believe is most likely a protein. [The paper hasn't a word, however, on enantiomers.]
* NASA 2012: proteinaceous amino acids in meteorites recovered on Earth including "excesses of left-handed aspartic and glutamic acids, two amino acids [among the twenty] common in terrestrial life". Many non-protenaceous amino acids, not known to be involved in "terrestrial" life, also exist and have been found in meteorites (see below), but only biological life is known to concentrate left-handed amino acids which then naturally begin to racemize back to a 50-50 state, so the "excess" itself argues strongly for youth and against million-year ages.
* Nature 1978: light coming from space carries the signature of having passed through cellulose dust, as reported in Nature by Fred Hoyle (theory of stellar nucleosynthesis), Chandra Wickramasinghe, et al.
* NASA's Richard Hoover 2011: As reported in Wired, Marshall Space Flight Center's Dr. Hoover analyzed filaments and low-nitrogen organic chemicals in meteorites that on Earth signify ancient fossils.
* NASA 2009: first discovery of an amino acid building block of protein, glycine, on a comet (Comet 81P/Wild 2).
* NASA 2010: scientists discovered "a fundamental building block of life", amino acids, in a meteorite "where none were expected."
* NASA 2018: Compounds that could have come from life include, "large organic molecules on the surface of Mars" "the watery lake that once filled Mars’ Gale Crater contained complex organic molecules"; "Sulfur may have helped protect the organics..." Hmm. Not iron? :) And "methane—the simplest organic molecule—is present in Mars’ atmosphere. Methane’s presence on Mars is puzzling, because it survives only a few hundred years at a time"; "a gas in the atmosphere of Mars that really shouldn’t be there," says NASA scientist Chris Webster; and "inexplicable" methane plumes randomly belch out thousands of tons at a time of this organic gas. "We really can’t tell if this methane we see today is a current product of... microbial activity..." said the NASA scientist who discovered Mars’ methane plumes.
* Earth and Planetary Science Letters 2000: apparent bacterial remnants in meteorites and even dormant bacteria.
* (Fringe) Journal of Cosmology 2013: a diatom collected in the lower stratosphere during the annual Perseid meteor shower by a microbiology professor at the University of Sheffield; See also Diatoms reported in Sri Lanka meteorites with isotope test results "suggestive" [per NASA] of meteoritic material (research from professors at the University of California San Diego, Cardiff University, the University of Buckingham, the Medical Research Institute of Sri Lanka, following up on an earlier paper at the University of Buckingham).
* Nature & NASA 2010: as reported in the journal Nature, "long-chained" molecules, the building-blocks of life, observed on an asteroid.
* Organic material and salts on a moon of Saturn sampled by Cassini during its repeated flybys (2004-2015) of the outgassing Enceladus, directly detecting "violatile gasses, water vapor, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide as well as some organic material", which does not indicate but is highly consistent with biological material.
* Sagan 1997; Huggins 1868: the father of spectroscopic astronomy, William Huggins, from 1868 to 1881 observed that components of comet Winnecke and others included simple unsaturated hydrocarbons, not unlike those found in Earth's crude oil, including ethylene (which on Earth functions as a plant hormone, etc.).
[* Stanley Miller and Arthur Weber: In 1981 the Journal of Molecular Evolution published, Reasons for the occurrence of the twenty coded protein amino acids. This Weber and Miller (of Urey-Miller infamy) paper documents the existence of non-proteinogenic amino acids in meteoroids. Such amino acids were also documented in 1983 in Advance Space Research along with eight "terrestrial protein amino acids" by then already had also found in carbonaceous chondrite meteorites.]
* TASS 2014: The Russian News Agency reported that cosmonauts collected sea plankton from the outside of the International Space Station.
* Science 2016: In related news, astronomers looking toward the center of the Milky Way have detected the complex organic molecule propylene oxide. If the HPT model of the solar system's history is correct, then there should be at least a slight parallax displacement when measured in summer vs. winter, or from spacecraft far beyond earth's orbit when headed perpendicular to the galaxy's center.
* Scientific American 2019: NASA's principal investigator in 1976 for a Viking Lander proof-of-life experiment, that placed nutrients in Mars' "soil" and then registered evidence of metabolism, insists they had proved the existence of microbrial life there especially when repeating the experiement after heating the soil (to kill any microbes) failed to produce the same evidence. [Remember also in 2019 NASA admitted to withholding for nearly half-a-century news of the "oldest" ever discovered Earth rock, which was found on the Moon!]
* PNAS 2019: In the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Analysis of carbonaceous chondrites [stony meteorites] to understand organic-mineral interactions during aqueous alteration. Remember "organic" doesn't always mean biological, but does it in this case? Comets didn't bring water to Earth; Earth is the source of comets. Etc. How so? See rsr.org/evidence and rsr.org/evidence#hpt
* NASA & PNAS 2019: The first detection of sugars in three meteorites includes ribose (historically described as "made in cells" and is the R in RNA), and the other bio-essential sugars, arabinose, xylose, and lyxose". [Fifteen years earlier NASA incorrectly claimed regarding abiogenesis that the imagined idea that ribose binding to borate/borax was a key step that "has taken us closer to revealing the origin of life on Earth". Interestingly, there's no borate reported in these meteorites.]
* NASA & Advancing Earth and Space Science 2019: A "mind-boggling" 30% higher than expected oxygen concentration in spring and summer (which could imply the presence of cyanobacteria and cyanophyta; and see 2019 detection of a transient 21 parts per billion of methane, which could also imply microbial life on Mars). 

Post-show Update: The European Space Agency's initial report on the Rosetta project's Philae craft that landed on Comet 67P stated that it has "'sniffed’ the comet’s atmosphere during the first touchdown, detecting organic molecules." Chemically speaking, organic compounds often have nothing to do with organisms, and so, until further news surfaces, the assumption is that these are non-biological carbon-based molecules. July 2015 Update: RT.com presents the Rosetta teams objection to the few scientists claiming that there may be evidence of microbial life on 67P.

Toward a confirmation of our prediction of more evidence discovered of biological matter scattered through the solar system, this ISS finding was reported six months after we published our prediction. For more information, see Terry Hurlbut's Sea plankton in Earth Orbit? Consider also our RSR recommendations. The chief of the Russian ISS orbital mission appears to indicate that this finding is repeatable, so of course 1) NASA should attempt to repeat it. Also, the Russians should 2) carbon date the existing specimens. And 3) check them for any sequenceable molecular content. And 4), as with all biological material apparently recovered from space, if Carbon-14 dated, this plankton will in fact contain 14c, indicating that it cannot be a million years old, and must have a *maximum* age of less than 50,000 years!

Where there is smoke there is fire. Just like the scientific community was in denial over dinosaur soft tissue, so too, both the creation and evolution communities seem to be in denial over repeated observations of biological material in space. These persistent and diverse indications of biological matter in space provide yet more corroboration that the fountains of the great deep ejected debris from the global flood into space.

* Ivan Schwab's Evolution's Witness -- How Eyes Evolved: Gary recommended that Bob read a new book by Dr. Schwab, a  colleague of Aguilar's at UC Irvine, about which Russell Fernald says that Evolution's Witness is "likely to be consulted by everyone interested in evolution and eyes." Within minutes of getting delivery of this book, on March 31, 2012, Bob wrote on the title page, with a number of folks around him signing as witnesses: "Prediction: Very little of this book will be about how eyes evolve." Dr. Aguilar described this textbook as a "tour de force" showing clearly how eyes evolved. During today's interview, Bob asserts that his prediction was valid, and that 99% of this book has nothing to do with how eyes evolve. It's a great anatomy book though!

* Missing Opsin Chapter: Opsin is the protein in photoreceptor cells that can detect a single photon and then signal that a photon has struck it. One might expect from a book on eye evolution that after the introduction, the author might include a chapter on an explanation, conceptually, of how opsin might evolve. Evolution's Witness is missing such a chapter. In vertebrates and invertebrates, opsin requires a chain of 150 to 250 amino acids which then must be folded correctly into a very specialized nano-machine which can pass along an output signal whenever the protein gets hit with a photon. But as creationists expect, no such chapter exists in the book. And actually, all the difficult problems that one would have to address if he were actually writing a book on How Eyes Evolved are missing from Ivan Schwab's book.

* Missing Vision Challenge Chapter: Bob Enyart brought up this vision challenge to Gary Aguilar, but, like most atheists and evolutionists we've discussed this with, Gary was unresponsive. It appears that atheists and evolutionists do not even know how to think about this problem, let alone can they offer any conceivable notion about how it could even theoretically be solved. See this vision challenge presented in full from our debate with TheologyOnline.com's resident atheist Zakath. Bob had predicted that even a state-of-the-art "tour de force" textbook by an ophthalmology professor would not even begin to describe how vision might evolve, and also, that this interview with an ophthalmologist professor would demonstrate their basic inability to substantively think through something that they routinely oversell to the public as a done deal. "We know 'how eyes evolved,' only an ignorant person would doubt our claims." At 2:33 into an interview on The Evolution of the Eye, Richard Dawkins illustrates the RSR "APPtitude test," aka, the Atheist Popularity Postulate, that the evolutionists who become the most popular are the ones who say the most absurd things with the straightest face. Imagine his evolving, curling, sheet of light-sensitive paper sending a static-like data stream to an unwitting brain that must then interpret the predator's shadow or direction of light (from the data represented by the screen above, on the left).

* The Missing Trochlea Challenge Chapter: Ivan Schwab doesn't include a chapter on how simple mechanics of the eye would have evolved, as illustrated in this trochlea challenge which has been circulating on the web in evolution circles from well before Schwab's book was published. In 2012, we sent to Gary our PZ Myers Trochlea Challenge. It's this simple sketch of the human eye, with a single question in its caption. Well-known evolutionist PZ has responded to us admitting that he cannot answer this challenge. We appreciate that truthfulness.

Definition of Planet: a massive body in space created to orbit the Sun or any other star. So Pluto was correctly demoted. (See below and see more on this at rsr.org/definitions.)

TNOs share many characteristics with asteroids including that they orbit in a doughnut-shaped belt, their percentage with moons, their color, and their density. Dr. Brown is the author of one of the most popular flood models which is also the subject of the Real Science Radio video: The Global Flood and the Hydroplate Theory, presented by Bob Enyart.

* TNO's Bunch Up. Here's Why: From Walt Brown's Origin of Asteroids, Meteoroids,and Trans-Neptunian Objects, a TNO authority, Christopher Crockett, points out:

All the objects beyond 150 astronomical units come closest to the sun, a point known as perihelion, at nearly the same time that they cross the plane of the solar system. There’s no reason for these perihelia to bunch up like that. Billions of years of evolution should have left the perihelia scattered, like the rest of the Kuiper Belt—unless something was holding the perihelia in place.

All 2,300 TNOs whose orbits are known (taken as a group) have ω (argument of perihelion) values that cluster near either 0° or 180°. Chance could produce such a departure from a random distribution only once out of 10,000 times!

Anyone interested can duplicate these results provided by astronautics Professor R. B. Brown. As published in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, Dr. Brown downloaded from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Small-Body Database the orbital elements for all 2,300 TNOs with known orbits. He then constructed a histogram for w that showed two prominent peaks—one near ω=0° and one near ω=180°. A simple chi-square test showed that the distribution was non-uniform with a confidence level of 99.99%. Professor Brown concluded that “many TNOs recently received powerful thrusts from near the plane of the ecliptic. Thrusts directed up above the ecliptic, produced ω values near 0°; thrusts directed downward produced ω values near 180°. He projected many TNOs and asteroids back in time and showed that Neptune’s gravity could have provided that thrust for only a few of these bodies over the last 22,000 years. Therefore, other planets near the ecliptic plane were involved. Were these TNOs even closer to the Sun than Neptune?

If that thrust occurred millions of years ago, random perturbations would have smoothed out those peaks, so the values for w would have been spread out uniformly between 0° and 360°. Therefore, “recently” must be less than millions of years ago—perhaps 5,000 years ago.

* HPT and Peer Review: [Update 2020] A common criticism of Dr. Walt Brown's hydroplate theory is that unlike another flood model, Catastrophic Plate Tectonics, HPT has not been peer reviewed in scientific journals. Ironically, one of the most extraordinary and unique aspects of Dr. Brown's HPT, that TNOs originated recently in the inner solar system, has been peer reviewed in one of the world's first and most prestigious astronomy journals. Update: Real Science Radio plans to broadcast in December 2020, Lord-willing, a program addressing HPT, CPT, and peer review, including the impossiblity of effectively peer-reviewing CPT (because of its extensive dependence on miracles of convenience not stated in the Bible). Further, just as the secular journals are biased against creationists, so too the creation movement, and hence its journal publishers, became biased against Dr. Brown. This happened when...
1) Dr. Brown took one for the team when he disproved the Vapor Canopy Theory. In a 15-minute segment of RSR's flood video (starting at 17:08 in) Bob Enyart pieces this together as we hear directly from Henry Morris, John Morris, and Rob Yardley. As no good deed goes unpunished, Walt was never forgiven for helping the movement stop wasting precious resources. Virtually the entire creation movement now benefits from Walt's courage and his scientific and biblical arguments against the now-discredited VCT model.
2) Dr. Steve Austin plagiarized Dr. Brown and doctored ICR publications to make it look like Walt Brown was the one who stole from Dr. Austin. Today, with the online posting of these doctored publications, at rsr.org/plagiarism, this sin is indisputable. When this happened, though the publicly avaialable information was sufficient to determine the truth, the primary documents themselves were not made public, and the leaders of the movement sided with Dr. Austin and worked to undermine Walt Brown's integrity. Their decision to side with a favorite son of the creation movement, the famed Mount St. Helens geologist, reinforced their disapproval of Walt opposing the VCT and it justified their hesitancy to carefully evaluate Dr. Brown's rather extensive Fountains of the Great Deep flood model.

In the context of this dysfunction in the creation movement, Dr. Brown prioritized his time for research and writing. The belabored peer-review process, especially with publications already heavily biased against an author, would consume literallly thousands of hours for a model as extensive as the hydroplate theory. Dr. Walt Brown's 9th Edition is available now online at hpt.rsr.org. As of October 2020 it is expected in print in the first quarter of 2021. The astounding new addition to the model, the Origin of Earth's Radioactivity, may never have been accomplished had Dr. Brown taken a different approach, and thus, creationists may never have been able to answer why after an original paradise, today's continental crust contains deadly radioactive elements.
