2008 List of Things Not So Old Things - Geological Time Dilation:  Time seems to speed up :) when evidence approaches the light of day. KGOV.com's Real Science Radio hosts CRS webmaster Fred Williams and Bob Enyart have reported on geological features that many atheistic old-earth geologists no longer claim took millions of years to form:
* Heart Mountain Detachment near Yellowstone, didn't take millions of years, but 30 minutes!
* Scablands in the state of Washington formed rapidly in floods per NOVA's TV show
* Yellowstone Petrified Tree Strata: Nat'l Park Service took down the deceptive sign that claimed successive forests since there were no root systems and the trees were transported there. Bob Enyart worked with the head ranger at a National Park (had dinner at his home; discussed how this sign could be removed), and he corresponded with his colleagues at Yellowstone and urged them to correct or remove the sign. * Trochlea Challenge to Any Evolutionist: (Update: After PZ Myers took a shot at RSR, we renamed the sketch below to the PZ Myers Trochlea Challenge.) Real Science Radio asks any evolutionist to view this anatomical image of the human eye Trochlea and take the KGOV.com challenge. On this radio program, Bob Enyart and RSR co-host Fred Williams discuss the debate over at Theology Online on Entropy and Evolution which led the BEL staff to commission this diagram of the muscles of the eye and the Trochlea sling, to disseminate this challenge. The image shows that the Superior Oblique muscle attached to the top of the eye is threaded through a sling, the Trochlea, for functionality (angle of torque, space requirements, etc.) and the strap-like muscle narrows to a cord to slide through. Darwin's natural selection could not choose this configuration until if functioned minimally. How many generations of offspring with random mutations modifying the design of the various tissue types like bone, nerve, cartilage, and muscle, happening simultaneously do you estimate would have to pass before this most simple of design features of the eye happened upon by chance in order for natural selection to choose it? Now estimate the generations of offspring for a complex feature of the eye...

* Snow in Houston and Orleans: Tuesday we reported a temperature of minus 81 degrees in Siberia, while I was interviewing the author of It's the S-U-N, Not Your SUV, John Zyrkowski, who opposes the global warming hype along with the 31,000 U.S. scientists who signed the petition against the global warming scare, and we reported that America can expect cold and snow, due to the minus 81 degrees forecast for Siberia. Now on Thursday, while there is much more cold coming from the arctic through next week, it's already snowing even in New Orleans of all places, and in Houston (see caption) earlier in the season than it has in 64 years, per the Weather Underground: "broad area of snowfall... ties the mark for the earliest snow fall in the Houston area [from Dec. 10] 1944."

* Comes Now Atheist Dan Barker: the media has been quoting atheist Dan Barker regarding the atheist plaque set up in the capitol in Seattle near the nativity scene. When Dan Barker was a teenager, he was involved with the ministry of Kathryn Kuhlman, one of a group of so-called faith healers. (See a BEL listener, TOL's Crow, who initially compared Bob to Benny Hinn until...) After interviewing atheists including:
- ABC's Reginald Finley, called The Infidel Guy, from ABC's Wife Swap program;
- TheologyOnline's psychologist Zakath;
- TOL's member who calls himself Fool;
- John Henderson who wrote the book God.com; and,
- Michael Shermer, an editor with Scientific American and the Skeptic Society who in in this famous 73-second excerpt on BEL denied that the sun is a light, illustrating that it's tough debating atheists when they're hesitant to admit to even the most obvious common ground;
now comes Dan Barker, a director with the Freedom from Religion Foundation.

* Truth, the Senses, the Universe, Sun and Moon: Acknowledging the difficulty in proving a negative, Bob Enyart stipulates at the outset that atheist Dan Barker would not have to worry about whether God was out on a star in a galaxy far, far away, but rather, Bob and Dan could discuss the evidence before us all, right here and right now.

As it turned out, Prof. Dan Styer, the author of the American Journal of Physics paper that prompted the debate, joined in! Bob argues that Prof. Styer's article furthered the confusion between information and heat entropy. * Letter from a Christian Citizen: Doug Wilson tells Creation magazine that the "philosopher David Hume (himself a skeptic) showed, several centuries ago, that there is no real way to get from 'is' to 'ought.' How do I get from a description of the way things are ... to the way they ought to be? ... Should a human mother care for her children... or eat them like some spiders do? Science doesn't give us ethical information."

To this American Right To Life would add, from their article, Einstein In His Own Words:

"In 1936 Einstein famously wrote, 'the most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is comprehensible,' and in 1944, remarking about Russell, he described the ability to get from matter to ideas as a 'gulf-logically unbridgeable,' which some scientists and linguists refer to as Einstein's Gulf, and in 1950, Einstein wrote that 'science can only ascertain what is, but not what should be,' necessarily excluding from its domain 'value judgments of all kinds.'"

* The Fish Wars: Atheists and evolutionists widely desecrate the Christian fish symbol by putting legs on it to symbolize evolution. Dr. Thomas Lessl of the University of Georgia researched the motivations and was told, "I did it to annoy the Christian right wing, since they are fond of putting the fish/Christ symbols on their cars..." and "Creationists are [expletive]... Humans are no better than chickens [BE: How does he know, has he tasted them?]... earthworms... algae or infectious salmonella..." [BE: Britain’s Prince Philip of the Worldwide Fund for Nature even wishes to be an infectious germ, saying that he would like to be reincarnated as a "killer virus to lower human population levels." Prince HIVlip, perhaps?] Dr. Lessl commented, "By inserting Darwin's name in the place of the fish icon usually reserved for Christ, the icthus symbol is ritually profaned."

* Neanderthals, Stars, Bugs, & Pistol Shrimp: Fred Williams co-hosts Real Science Radio with Bob Enyart presenting science facts out of the great issue of Creation magazine published in March of 2008. Neanderthals were Homo sapiens, that is, they were fully human, and they made jewelry, spoke, buried their dead, etc. [2012 Update: And falsifying a long-standing prediction of evolutionists that Neanderthals were some other species that descended from some ape-like ancestor, it turns out that they are closer genetically to humans than two chimps are to one another!]
- School murderers from Finland, etc. say they are motivated by Darwin's natural selection

- Big Bang cosmologists admit they don't even know whether stars or galaxies came first showing their true lack of understanding of the formation of the universe; also, quantum red shift data implies that the Milky Way galaxy has a central position in the universe
- The mantis (pistol) shrimp, also referred to as a snapping shrimp, possesses an amazing function to obtain food, it creates a cavity bubble underwater which collapses with such force that it produces a cracking sound of about 200 decibels (louder than a jet engine), a tiny flash of light, and enough heat (hotter than the sun) and shock to stun or even kill its prey such as worms and goby fish.

* More Science Bits: 1,000 world-wide water gaps formed by the global flood!
