Research Request: BEL would like to know whether this judge, a Virginia General District Court Judge James A. Moore, is Republican or Democrat? Such judges are elected by a majority vote of the Virginia House of the General Assembly for terms of six years, and Moore's term began July 1, 2001 and expires this year on June 30. Was the majority party in the Virginia House Republican or Democrat when they elected Moore? If you're good at researching, can you find out this judge's political affiliation? If you decide to tackle this, please let us know that you're working on it by posting a message in the BEL Forum at TheologyOnline.com in the thread for today's show, April 4, 2004. Then, if you find the answer, you can post it in that same thread, and also email your findings (with links to corroborate your results) to Bob@KGOV.com. Thanks!
* Kupelian's FotS Analysis: David Kupelian seemed to agree with Bob's anti-legal-positivist argument. Bob said to David that as we pro-lifers have sort of changed places with the pro-choicers in that now we've adopted the strategy that the pro-aborts used forty years ago. In 1967 they first legalized abortion just for the hard cases, like rape and incest. Now we are saying, vote for these candidates and laws that prohibit abortion except for the hard cases like rape and incest. But we have men like Notre Dame constitutional law professor Charles Rice pointing out that when we have judges, and rulings, and laws, and candidates, saying, "no abortion except..." what we're actually doing is destroying the personhood of the child, in the mind of the courts, the government, the media, and even the people at large. To all this, David Kupelian responded, "Yes, I agree.... There is a certain wisdom in doing things incrementally, but you have to do it without compromising principles!" Amen David!

* BEL Correspondent Neil Copley: This program begins with an email from an Indianapolis listener, who is also a member of the brightest audience in America, who writes that:
a caller to Rush mentioned the global cooling scare in the '70s (as though it would be news to everyone), and Rush played along. THEN, Rush asked the general question, "If global cooling were the problem today, do you think that Algore would be encouraging everyone to drive their SUVs and burn fossil fuels? Of course not! He couldn't bring himself to do that..." But Rush missed the bigger point: as I recall, the cause of global cooling then was THE SAME as the cause of global warming today, and we must shut down every aspect of comfort, prosperity and freedom to solve either or both problems. Funny how restricting economic freedom is their answer to everything.
