* Martin Luther's Bad Theses (Well, they weren't ALL bad): [See below for the description of today's BEL broadcast by guest hosts.] Today, October 31, 2017, marks the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his 95 theses to the door of the Wittenberg Castle church. Bob right now is on a Hydroplate Theory geology field trip with some of the leading supporters of Dr. Walt Brown's work including a board member of J. Vernon McGee's Thru the Bible Radio Network. Bob and this board member were talking through some of Luther's theses which are outstanding and are rightfully celebrated. But the guys also noted that some of his theses are atrocious and rarely discussed. Examples of Luther's really bad theses include that:

• the pope can forgive sin and grant indulgences (#42, 47, 41, 6, 39, 49, 71)

• the Roman Catholic priest is God’s representative to forgive sin (#7)
• only those humbly submissive to his priest will be forgiven (#7)
• the Holy Spirit through the person of the pope gives us grace (#9)
• there is a purgatory (#10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 22, 23, 25, 26, 29,)
• no one can know if he is fully forgiven and only the nearly perfect can be (#23, 30)
• the pope’s authority over forgiveness of sin is to be accepted (#38)
• the pope's indulgences should be preached but with care (#41, etc.)
• bishops must receive the delegates of the the pope's indulgences with all reverence (#69)
• you are accursed if you deny that the pope's indulgences flow from the apostles' authority (#71)
• the pope should excommunicate anyone who interferes with the trade in indulgences (#73)
• even a papal indulgence can’t help those who have blasphemed Mary, the Mother of God (#75)
• its blasphemy to deny that Peter could give even greater grace than the pope (#77)
• the pope has greater graces than do normal Christians (#78)
