Israel became a nation 70 years ago today on May 14, 1948, nearly 1,900 years after 70 A.D. when they lost their homeland to the Roman Empire. Countless cities have been lost to history, as have peoples, tongues, and tribes. Yet the Bible prophesied that even though the Jews would temporarily be "scattered among the nations" (Deut. 4:27), still Israel shall never “cease from being a nation before Me forever” (Jer. 31:36), for “God has loved Israel, to establish them forever” (2 Chr. 9:8), and they "shall abide forever" even "Jerusalem from generation to generation,” (Joel 3:20), though "it shall happen in that day [the end times] that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples” (Zech. 12:2-3). So that on the 14th of May that year, millions of Jews and Christians read and re-read from Isaiah chapter 66, "Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion [Israel] was in labor, she gave birth to her children… Rejoice with Jerusalem…" God has mercy on Israel because He remembers Abraham who, like God the Father, was willing of offer up his son on Mt. Moriah, where the Father offered up God the Son, Jesus Christ. And Bob talks about why all the end times teachers are dying of old age, and how they forgot that we can "hasten" the coming of the Lord and that God can "shorten" those days, because He is a person, and free, and has a will.
