Focus Raining on Obama's Parade

* When Christians Pray for Rain: Focus on the Family's youtube video asking whether it would be wrong or not to pray for rain on Obama's acceptance speech was lighthearted and enjoyable. It does bring up, though, the interesting topic of Christians praying to effect the weather. Here are notes from Bob's on-air comments: Regarding the concept of praying for rain, or clear skies, and the Christians who do so-- when they pray for rain, and it doesn't rain, it seems they ignore the incident, ten times over. When they pray for rain, and it does rain, they'll repeat the story for ten years, that once when they needed it to rain, and prayed for rain, it rained. The same is true with Christians who pray for clear skies. When they get a cloudburst instead, they just ignore that, but when they get a clear sky, the story is recounted. What percentage of time do atheists get the kind of whether they were hoping for? Do you think Christian sports leagues get fewer rain cancelations than homosexual sports leagues? No. Of course not. When the bride hopes for clear skies for her wedding, understandably, she's perhaps oblivious to the farmer down the road who might lose his family farm if this year's crop dies out because of drought. But she prays for clear skies, unaware that the farmer is praying for rain, and unaware that gang members commit more murders on clear days than on rainy or snowy days. But as Jesus said, our Father in heaven makes it "rain on the just and on the unjust."

At Matthew 5:45, Jesus said that our Father in heaven, "makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." Christians should not be superstitious because it harms our credibility. Did God ever make it rain in the Bible. Yes, of course He did. First of all, He created water. In fact He invented space and matter, with their property of universal gravitation. And God made water molecules so that if the ones on a surface have enough energy, they'll separate and become water vapor, and that evaporation process cools down our bodies, lakes, rivers, and so on. And God made it rain, the first time in the global Flood which deposited the billions of fossils in sedimentary strata all over the Earth. And He specifically made it rain at other special times, such as when Elijah prayed for rain. But that doesn't mean that every time it rains, God is micromanaging the weather.
When the Bible records that God did something, like healing Naaman the leper, that doesn't mean that He heals every leper, in fact, Jesus pointed out that there were many lepers in the time of Elisha the prophet, but God only healed Naaman. So, it's a mistake to assume that God will always do the same thing, in similar circumstances, every time, because God is a Person, and a person has a will, and a will is the ability to decide. So if we follow the pattern of Scripture, we learn that, apart from super extraordinary circumstances, in normal daily life, God makes it rain on the just and the unjust, that is, it just rains when the weather patterns cause it to rain. And if we pray for rain, and it rains, that is not an act of faith, but of superstition, like the pagan Greeks who thought that the lightning bolts were thrown by Zeus. It's superstitious to connect our prayer for rain with the rain. We believe it honors God more, and exhibits more wisdom and spiritual growth, to pray and ask God for the grace and courage to respond in a mature way, regardless of what the weather is. Rain or shine, we're not fair weather friends to Him, but in all circumstances, all-weather, we trust in God.

* Power in the Park: sponsored by American Right To Life during the 2008 DNC to expose the democrat-supported genocide of black babies. Please plan to come on out during the mornings of the DNC to the Martin Luther King Jr. Park right across from Planned Parenthood's brand new 52,000 mega-abortion facility in yet another minority neighborhood. Speakers include Jesse Lee Peterson, Ambassador Alan Keyes, Clennard Childress (, Matt Trewhella, Bob Enyart, Flip Benham of Operation Rescue, plus a dozen others!

American Right To Life is standing in the gap for unborn babies during the Democratic Nat'l Convention, August 24-27 with Power in the Park, daily from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Denver's Martin Luther King Jr. Park at 38th and Olive. Evening rallies begin at 6:30 p.m. at 10828 Huron St. in Northglenn.

The nation's most powerful speakers, Dr Alan Keyes, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, Rev.Clenard Childress and Rev. Flip Benham will come together in Martin Luther King Jr. Park to expose the genocidal roots of Planned Parenthood and the Democratic Party. As a result, one out of every two black babies is aborted, decimating the black population in America.

"Abortion ends more black lives than heart disease, cancer, accidents, AIDS, and violent crime combined. African Americans constitute little more than 12 percent of the population but have more than a third (37 percent) of abortions. That rate has held relatively constant, though in some regions the numbers are much starker; in Mississippi, black women receive some 72 percent of all abortions, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Nationwide, 512 out of every 1,000 black pregnancies end in an abortion. Revealingly enough, roughly 80 percent of Planned Parenthood's abortion centers are in or near minority communities." -Jonah Goldberg, Liberal Fascism
