Tony Funderburk: Editor
~ BEL Top Five ~
Issue Number 1: January 2009

When Bob was on TV and based in Indiana, he would end his show with the words "Do Right And Risk The Consequences". He didn't realize it at the time, but another guy decided to take those words and create a song. Tony sent a version of the song on tape (yes, tape) to the producers. They played it for Bob, and an informal, creative partnership was born.

Fast forward almost 13 years, and now Bob is the pastor of Denver Bible Church, and Tony is the music director. They provide a one-two punch for the Word of God...Bob's ability to "rightly divide the Word of Truth" and Tony's ability to put it to music. They've become good friends during this 13 year collaboration, and they're pleased to bring you another project...this monthly countdown of the BEL Top 5. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more good stuff they're working on. Now...Do Right...and read on...

This month's top five includes:
#5: It's The Sun, Not Your S-U-V
#4: Real Science Radio...Trochlea Challenge
#3: Two Debates...Open Theism & Entropy
#2: Pro Choice Ilana Goldman Debates Bob...well, sort of
#1: Newsweek's Lisa Miller Debates Bob on Homosexuality...well, sort of again

#5...It's the Sun, Not Your SUV
Click here for the MP3 download of this broadcast

Global Warming:
Bob Enyart interviews John Zyrkowski, author of the great book, It's the Sun, Not Your SUV that debunks the global warming myth. Mars has warmed, and that was NOT from your SUV! Rather than disappearing, as forecast by fear mongers, Antarctic ice has increased by about 770,000 square miles (and that's why sea level has decreased)!

And while 31,000 American scientists have signed a petition rejecting the warming hype, NASA's wild-eyed doomsayer, now two fries short of a happy meal, has deteriorated to where James Hansen is defending domestic eco-terrorists.

#4...Real Science Radio...Trochlea Challenge

Trochlea Challenge to Any Evolutionist: Real Science Radio challenges any evolutionist to view this JPG image of the Trochlea Challenge. Bob Enyart and RSR co-host Fred Williams discuss the debate over at TheologyOnline.com on Entropy and Evolution which led the Bob Enyart Live staff to commission a diagram of the muscles of the eye and the Trochlea sling, to disseminate this challenge.

The image shows that the Superior Oblique muscle attached to the top of the eye is threaded through a sling, the Trochlea, for functionality (angle of torque, space requirements, etc.) and the strap-like muscle narrows to a cord to slide through. Darwin's natural selection could not choose this configuration until it functioned minimally.

How many generations of offspring with random mutations modifying the design of the various tissue types like bone, nerve, cartilage, and muscle, happening simultaneously do you
estimate would have to pass before this most simple of design features of the eye happened upon by chance in order for natural selection to choose it? Now estimate the generations of offspring for a complex feature of the eye...

Here’s what an encouraging RSR listener wrote about our program
Real Science Radio-
"Caterpillar Kills Atheism"

"I cannot emphasize how much I love this stuff....it's simplicity and truth at its finest -- I thrive on it..I crave it: No science [background] required... no knowledge of any goofy theory, no [higher-education] schooling, no professors, no degrees, no books [needed, just eyes], no
university study to rely on -- just two guys talking about the miracle of creation. After listening to this short audio, it should be obvious and self-evident to everyone that God is the Creator of all. Check it out -- it's a great listen. Bob Enyart and Fred Williams tell a great story and put on display the staggering brilliance, genius and beauty of our living God.”

P.S. “please do yourself a favor and listen to it all..... and notice the creationists' $20,000 offer to the evolution institution to carbon date the soft tissue t-rex... I really do love common sense and wisdom. There is so little of it to go around nowadays, when I hear two people who are obviously wise and not fooled by today's mob of storytellers in science and media, it just gives an all-over warm feeling and a desire to thank God for people like this."

Wow, that's humbling. You equally encourage us! Thanks so much! In Christ, -Bob and Fred

#3...Two Debates: Open Theism & Entropy
Click here for the MP3 download of this broadcast

Bob Enyart Debates an Evolutionist: Have you seen Bob's Entropy and evolution debate? Bob debated a trained evolutionist about an article from the American Journal of Physics, and the author of that article, Daniel F. Styer, has joined the debate! If you like science, and have interest in the creation/evolution debate, check out this debate!

When physics professor Styer started posting on TheologyOnline.com commenting on
Bob Enyart's debate, the site's resident physicist, known as ThePhy, wrote:

"Dan - fair warning. I think you have stepped in it now. One thing Reverend Enyart delights in is getting scientists with name recognition to respond to him." -ThePhy

To which the professor cheerfully and humbly replied: "Well I'm safe, then, because I have no name recognition!" -Dan Styer

To which ThePhy replied: "Perhaps before, but not now. Whether you like it or not, in authoring your seminal paper you have joined the ranks of a small cadre of very influential scientists in the Creationism - evolution debate. You paper is generating a lot of attention in many forums like this. It has passed out of your hands now."

To which Bob Enyart replied...
If you just want to read one post from the debate, Bob Enyart recommends this post complete with artwork commissioned by KGOV.com!

The Future is Open Debate: Will, the Bob Enyart Live general manager, is in a debate at TheologyWeb.com titled: Is the future is settled or open? Will states: If God is free, then the future is open. And his brilliant argument validates open theism by showing that God was free to create and that God remains free to create, and therefore, the future cannot be settled but must be open.

#2...Pro-Choice Ilana Goldman Debates Bob...well, sort of
Click here for the MP3 download of this broadcast

One of Eight "Women to Watch:" according to the Washingtonian, Ilana Goldman, president of Women's Campaign Forum, is one of the most powerful women in Washington.
Ms. Goldman advocates the "right" to kill a fetus.

Bob Enyart asked Ms. Goldman a number of questions which she did not answer including "What is a fetus?" and "Is the fetus living?"

Ms. Goldman argued for a right to terminate it, but insisted on avoiding a discussion about what "it" is. Ms. Goldman indicated there should be a right to kill "it" because there are strong emotions on both sides, and because many people want to kill "it."

Ilana did not agree when Bob said that whatever the truth is --whether "it" is a baby or not-- should take precedence over emotion and opinion. Bob Enyart said to Ilana, "Abortion is wrong because it's a baby, it's always wrong to intentionally kill a baby," to which Ilana said that we should respect one
another's views, to which Bob asked, Well, isn't it relevant whether or not the fetus is a baby?... a question Ilana objected to.

One Interesting Exchange:

Bob Enyart - You're saying, "We realize some people think it's a baby and other people think it's not and we'd like both sides to respect one another." Well, the same argument was made with blacks and slavery. And people said, "Look, if you don't like slavery, don't own one." And so the question is not, "Do we respect one another?" The question is, "Is a black man a person? Is the Jew a person? Is the baby in the womb a person?"

That's the question.

Would you agree it's not that we should respect one another, it is what is the truth, what is the truth in this matter. That's what we should determine?

Ilana Goldman - "No, I wouldn't agree. I don't think that's the right analogy."

2 minutes and 55 seconds later...

Bob - Earlier you said, "the truth really shouldn't prevail, it's our own opinion."
Ilana - No, that's not what I said and I don't want to have my words distorted.
Bob - Okay, we have it on tape. We could replay it.

To hear the rest of the frustrating silliness Ms. Goldman defended click here, and perhaps Ilana can post the above paragraph on her blog and respond.

And our #1 program for December 2008 was...
Newsweek’s Lisa Miller debates Bob on homosexuality
...again, sort of

Click here for the MP3 download of this broadcast

She Advocates Homosexual Marriage: as expected, but why did Lisa Miller resist answering Bob's question about homosexuality itself? This Newsweek writer's obvious careful preparation for her article and the routine fact-checking of the magazine's editors did not prevent them from publishing this falsehood in Miller's Dec. 15, 2008 article, Our Mutual Joy...

"nowhere in the Bible do its authors refer to sex between women."

The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 1:26-27 of the vile passion of women with women, likewise of men with men who leave the natural use of the woman and burn in their lust for one another. Lisa knew from her careful analysis of four sentences, Romans 1:26-32, that Scripture condemned not only male homosexuality but also lesbianism. (This kind of error is similar to Colin Powell's intentional misreport to the United Nations on Iraq's use of aluminum tubes for WMD.)

But revealing her bias to misrepresent Scripture, Ms. Miller included the incorrect information, defending herself when challenged by Bob Enyart by passing the buck and saying that's what the Anchor Bible Dictionary says: "nowhere in the Bible do its authors refer to sex between women." Bob pointed out that hundreds of authors (800) contributed to the Anchor Dictionary's thousands of entries (6,000) and this fact was thereby overlooked, but shouldn't have been by Lisa Miller who hopefully will correct this error given the opportunity in the future.

Miller on Homosexuals in a Boys Locker Room: As Bob has pointed out for 17 years on air, the only time the media mentions Ozzie and Harriet is to mock them or be dismissive, as Newsweek is, of the scriptural model of mom, dad, and kids. And Bob asked Lisa Miller, "Why don't we allow male high school teachers, men, in the girls' volleyball team locker room? Lisa refused to answer this question.

Why wouldn't she answer? Accepting homosexuality destroys the morals of society, by
draining the cup of lust to its dregs. The only answer to this locker room question is, not
because we presume every man to be a child molester but, we don't allow men in the girls locker room because males are attracted to females. Period. Widespread homosexuality robs human beings of being able to enjoy social environments, including spas and health clubs, free from sexual tension. It is wrong to have sailors on a submarine live with another man who is
sexually attracted to his bunkmates.

You’ll also love this artist’s drawing of the human eye. It clearly shows the “Superior oblique”...a muscle to maneuver the eye. The unique and cool thing about this is that the muscle narrows down to a “cord” and slips through a tiny loop called the Trochlea.
It’s one of those things that makes you go hmmm. How would it ever evolve.
