Real Science Friday

Don't Be Fooled by NPR's parody titled Science Friday ;) Welcome to the REAL Science Friday with co-hosts Fred Williams and Bob Enyart who talk about science to debunk evolution and to show the evidence for the creator God including from biology, geology, astronomy, and physics. (For example, mutations will give you bad legs long before you'd get good wings.) Not only do we get to debate Darwinists and atheists, and easily take the potshots from popular evolutionists like PZ Myers and Eugenie Scott, but we also occasionally interview the outstanding scientists who dare to challenge today's accepted creed that nothing created everything.
RSF: Good Little Rat, Bad Little Bat
* Discover Magazine Thinks Mutated Finger Is A Big Step Toward Flight: Real Science Friday co-hosts Bob Enyart and Fred Williams get a kick out of Discover Magazine claiming that a mouse with mutated fingers, "may have instigated the evolution of mammalian flight." Before pointing out why this sounds mickey mouse to us, first consider one of the many problems that evolutionists have, which Discover admits in their article: "The fossil records show a sudden appearance of mammals [i.e., bats, which are] nearly identical to modern bats about 50 million years ago—with no transitional forms." (And with all the variation that exists among modern bats, they could have just dropped the word "nearly" from their description of Darwin's problem.)
* Singer Kelly Clinger To Take Flight: If long fingers could really instigate the evolution of mammalian flight, we'll have to check in with the Clingers to see if Matt and Kelly have been able to keep their kids on the ground. From the Mickey Mouse Club (the real one), to touring with Britney Spears, to standing up for the Lord and the innocent unborn child, personhood advocate Kelly Clinger is a hero to Real Science Friday! As for taking flight? Kelly wrote to RSF: "Just wanted you to know that my long fingers have never caused me to take flight! :) Thanks for the shout out on Friday!" -Kelly Clinger
* Evolutionists Span Logical Impossibility with Imagination: Regarding the alleged evolution of flight, which evolutionists somehow imagine their way across, creationists point out that you'd get bad legs long before you got good wings. [Post-show Update: This is one of the reasons why Walter ReMine refers to naive natural selection, which the public thinks is the actual theory, wherein natural selection causes species to become increasingly fit. As it is actually described by a legion of evolutionist scientists, Darwinism has the most obtuse and conflicting mechanisms including a changing "fitness terrain" wherein something as beneficial as legs becomes less beneficial so much so that natural selection carries the genome of a legged species downhill (instead of uphill to better legs) and across a fitness valley to find an uphill fitness slope the climbing of which produces wings. Really.] Yet, notwithstanding our rejection of Darwin, by the end of today's program, Fred's already long fingers evolved to grow ever-so-slightly longer, and all it took was the most gentle breeze coming through the studio, and wouldn't you know it! Fred started to take flight.
* Vultures, Scavengers, Dobzhansky, and the Dead Sea: From the Spring 2012 edition of Answers magazine Bob and Fred talk about vultures, scavengers, bacteria in an unexpected place, and Theodosius Dobzhansky's objection to God creating niche creatures. And the guys correct Wikipedia and explain why vultures, with "prey" that does not move, need (and have) really great eyesight! And by the way, how would eyesight evolve? (Bob's reading a book right now that claims to answer that question! We'll see :)
RSF: Does Stephen Hawking Exist?
* Tennessee's Academic Freedom Bill: The State of Tennessee passed an Academic Freedom Law that allows teachers to present evidence on controversial issues like global warming and evolution. Tennessee, of course, is where the 1925 Scopes Monkey trial took place and Bob Enyart and Fred Williams recall that Hollywood finally got it right with the 2011 movie "Alleged" which, unlike their earlier attempts, now accurately portrays the issues and people involved in the controversy that erupted in the small town of Dayton, Tennessee and eventually affected the entire nation.
* UPDATE On The Mother of All Extinctions: Scientists from Arizona State University have found a very rapid worldwide change in the ocean's radioactivity at the time of the extinction of 90% of the species in the oceans. RSF will keep the audience updated as to whether or not this discovery provides corroborating evidence for Dr. Walt Brown's theory, based on the global flood, of The Origin of Earth's Radioactivity.
* "Snowflake" Clumping Yeast Evolved to Form Snowflake Clumps: Evolutionists experimented with yeast that tends to form clumps that look like snowflakes, and they assumed that they witnessed evolution taking place because they ended up with yeast that forms clumps that look like snowflakes. So, is Fred now ready to "give up trying to defend creationism?" Tune in to find out! Also, the evolutionists assume that this yeast species, perhaps what... hundreds of millions of years old by their calculations, evolved a brand new complex ability, to work together, in just the 60-day period of their experiments! Golly. That's amazing! But half a year ago, RSF reported on Bacteria that are smarter than fish. So Bob and Fred figure that the yeast in this experiment didn't have a light-speed burst of evolution but instead merely outsmarted the evolutionists.
* Bob and Fred have Fun with Hawking and Science: Stephen Hawking says that God was not needed to create the universe. To demonstrate his claim, he gives the illusion that he's being scientific but in reality he is just telling a story. The guys first compare the contradictory multiverse theory of infinite parallel universes with Hawking's claims. And then they ask if Stevie wonders whether or not anyone has noticed that he's contradicted himself, the laws of physics, and makes circular arguments?
* Did God Create Time? Genesis says that God created light and life, space and matter. But did God also create time? Bob and Fred disagree a bit with Creation Magazine on this issue and also ponder what God meant when He said that He put eternity into our hearts! See also our article on God and Time.
RSF: Best Cell Biology DVD Ever Made!
* Don Johnson on Real Science Friday: RSF co-host Bob Enyart interviews Dr. Don Johnson who earned Ph.D.s in both Computer & Information Sciences from the University of Minnesota and in Chemistry from Michigan State University and has been a senior scientist in industry and taught at universities in the U.S. and Europe. Dr. Johnson has produced simply the greatest cell biology DVD ever made: Programming of Life!
* How Many Proteins Does It Take To Screw In a Light Bulb? No joke. Actually, the scientific question is: How many proteins does it take to make a protein? The answer: 150. Hopefully that realization will help light a bulb for an evolutionist. For apart from the Creator God, the claim of the materialistic origin of life is hopelessly circular and makes no sense.
For this show, RSF recommends Dr. Don Johnson's Programming of Life DVD!
* Analyzing the Great Works of Literature -- Via Spelling: Debating RSF, atheist AronRa claimed that the study of evolution (to Darwinists, this means, the study of all life) is primarily an investigating into changing frequencies of alleles (which are differing versions of genes). This is as insufficient an approach as it would be to study the great works of literature by focusing on spelling an syntax.
* One Dead Protein : Bob Enyart points out that even if a trillion universes all pulled together to overcome the odds of a protein forming and folding by chance, and natural processes produced the first protein... so what? All you'd have is a single, dead protein.
RSF: ASU Agrees 90% of Marine Species Killed
* Worldwide Extinction Event Evidence of Hydroplate Theory: Real Science Friday co-hosts Bob Enyart and Fred Williams ask whether a new scientific discovery helps to confirm Walt Brown's Hydroplate Theory explanation of The Origin of Earth's Radioactivity. Scientists at Arizona State University discovered that the global catastrophe that killed 90% of the life in the oceans occurred simultaneously with a dramatic worldwide radioactivity event! (See video below and AiG's article.)
* A (Tail) Bone to Pick with Fox News: After Fox News wrongly claimed that humans have vestigial organs, Bob offers to pay to have Bill O'Reilly's tail bone removed.
* Sea Level Rise and the Earth Divided in the Days of Peleg: For a couple hundred years after the flood, massive land bridges connected the Americas to Asia, Australia, and Europe. (That aids understanding of the post-flood migration of people and animals, including "woolly" mammoths.) Today, if you lower sea level by just a few hundred feet, bridges would re-emerge connecting the continents. As mountain ranges settled, they lifted up the earth's great plateaus (Colorado, Tibetan, etc.). And as the entire continents themselves settled back into the mantel, they raised the sea floor dramatically, submerging the post-flood land bridges. The Hebrew name Peleg means to divide by water (like our archipelago, a chain of islands). Thus the Bible says, that "the name of one [son] was Peleg, for in his days the Earth was divided" (Gen. 10:25). Hear Bob Enyart and Walt Brown discuss this in the RSF show, Walt on Where the Water Went.
For this show, RSF recommends Dr. Carl Werner's Living Fossils video
and its prequel, Evolution, the Grand Experiment!
RSF: Now, Two Million Year-Old Leaves?
* Real Science Friday: Co-hosts Bob Enyart and Fred Williams discuss some inside baseball from the creation community, and the Spring 2012 editions of the Creation and Answers magazines!
* Yup! More Not-So-Old Things: This time, it's leaves! "When we started pulling leaves out of the soil, that was surreal, to know that it's millions of years old..." sur-re-al: adjective: a bizarre mix of fact and fantasy. In this case, the leaves are the facts. Earth scientists from Ohio State and the University of Minnesota say that wood and leaves they found in the Canadian Arctic are at least two million years old! For 2013, Bob and Fred will add these leaves to their annual classic, the RSF List of Not So Old Things!
For this show, RSF recommends Dr. Carl Werner's Living Fossils video
and its prequel, Evolution, the Grand Experiment!
Stars in Galaxy Bulges "Look Too Perfect"
* Creation Magazine on Astronomy, Acid, Atheists, Sonar, and Pigs: Real Science Friday co-hosts Bob Enyart and Fred Williams discuss the Spring 2012 edition of Creation magazine!
* "Surprisingly Orderly" Star Clusters in Spiral Galaxies: Those who believe in naturalist origins are forever dismayed or even shocked by the latest discoveries because scientific observations typically contradict the fundamental predictions of atheistic origins. (One small example: Most animals reproduce sexually, yet Darwinism would never predict sexual reproduction.) Thus while the Big Bang model predicted that the bulge of stars in the center of spiral galaxies resulted from millions of years of collisions, as reported in Creation magazine and in the New Scientist article, Galaxies too good to be true, Princeton University cosmologist Jim Peebles admitted that, "It's really an embarrassment." And cosmologist John Kormendy says that the prinstine bulges "were something of a shock" and "look rather too perfect." To which Bob and Fred say :) and about which Spike Psarris created the greatest astronomy DVDs ever made.

and his great Vol. II, on Our Created Stars and Galaxies!
* And for Good Measure: Venus rotates backwards, "Hot Jupiter" gas giants exist near their suns, and some exoplanets orbit their stars backwards!
Dinosaurs, Fossils & Montana's Best Museum
Curator Otis Kline: On this special edition of Real Science Friday, Otis Kline, founder of the Glendive Dinosaur & Fossil Museum talks with Bob Enyart about the two world renowned laboratories that both reported Carbon 14 in their Edmontosaur, Hadrosaur, and Triceratops fossils. These results match two peer-reviewed studies that have also carbon dated dinosaur era specimens, from multiple labs, and all indicating that these specimens are thousands and not millions of years old!
Visit the Glendive Dinosaur & Fossil Museum: If you're going to Montana, you've GOT TO SEE THIS MUSEUM! If you're not going to Montana, you've GOT TO GO TO MONTANA! Please call ahead if you are planning to go: (406) 377-FACT (3228) or email Otis Kline at fact@midrivers.com.
* See Bob's Software Invention: at RealScienceFriday.com/Display.exe. Bob's program can display, among other things, the source code for any software program!
* Find the Two PhysOrg.com Errors in the Following Quote: Curator Otis Cline informed our RSF audience about this recent scientific discovery of interest toward refuting old-earth assumptions. QUESTIONS: Regarding the soft muscle tissue from a salamander recently excavated, a PhysOrg.com article has an error in the first and last sentences of this excerpt. Can you spot them?
Scientists have extracted organically preserved muscle tissue from an 18 million years old salamander fossil. The discovery by researchers from University College Dublin, the UK and Spain, reported in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B shows that soft tissue can be preserved under a broader set of fossil conditions than previously known. The scientists claim that their discovery is unequivocal evidence that high-fidelity organic preservation of extremely decay prone soft tissues is more common in the fossil record - the only physical record of the history of life on earth.
ANSWERS: Last Sentence Error. This PhysOrg report falsely claims that fossils are the only physical record of the history of life on earth. Because of heritable mutations and other modifications to the genomes of millions of different species, DNA provides another physical record of the history of life. Our own cells therefore provide a biological clock that could theoretically date the original man and woman from whom all living human beings descended! (See RealScienceFriday.com/list#mtDNA) And there is plenty of unfossilized animal and plant material that scientists have excavated (and even just picked up off the ground) from allegedly millions of years ago.
RSF: Remember the Nautiloids!
* The Latest Creation Magazine and Round Four of the Debate: Real Science Friday co-hosts Fred Williams and Bob Enyart discuss great science news from the Spring 2012 edition of Creation magazine including on:
- Astronomers shocked that the Sun and Earth are made from different oxygen.
- Evolutionists take Hawking's warning about angry aliens increasingly seriously.
- Just add water to the list of the fine-tuning properties in the universe.
- While engineers typically can look at the parts of a newly-invented machine (say, a new kind of mobile device) and predict its form and function, but this is not true of anything possessing emergent properties (like water which arises from hydrogen and oxygen); and what is truly astounding is the emergent properties in living cells which, while often compared to computers and machines, in reality make use of computers and millions of machines but are qualitatively very different than either a machine or a computer.
- Round Four of Bob's debate with atheist AronRa serves up ice-cream cone shaped fossils, millions of them, that falsify Aron's claim that at the Grand Canyon there is "no indication of rapid stratification."
* Excerpt from Debate: At the Grand Canyon, "There is no indication of rapid stratification…" -AronRa
Bob Enyart: Millions of Nautiloids: [from Bob's Round Four debate post] Aron, in the canyon there is a seven-foot-thick (on average) layer of limestone that runs the 277 miles of the canyon (and beyond) that covers many hundreds of square miles which contains an average of one nautiloid fossil per square meter.
Many of these nautiloids are larger than your arm, with fossils of tens of millions of these creatures that were buried in an extremely rapid event that killed them all, thus forming yet another important layer of the canyon's walls. Along with many other dead creatures in this one particular limestone layer, 15% of these nautiloids were killed and then fossilized standing on their heads. Yes, vertically. They were caught in such an intense and rapid catastrophic flow that gravity was not able to cause all of their dead carcasses to fall over on their sides.
RSF: The Origin of Earth's Radioactivity
* Walt Brown Discovered How Radioactive Decay Started: Real Science Friday co-hosts Bob Enyart and Fred Williams describe Dr. Brown's Hydroplate Theory and it's explanation of the origin of Earth's radioactivity. Consider:
- God created a paradise for mankind so no radioactivity would have existed on the original Earth because radioactive decay can cause birth defects, disease, and death.
- The fourth state of matter, beyond solid, liquid, and gas, is plasma (lightning, neon lights, etc.) which is like a gas but with the electrons stripped away.
- Pressure on quartz produces an electric voltage and the granite in the Earth's crust is more than one-fourth quartz.
- Earthquakes produce lightning strikes coming out of the ground and in the ground.
- The journal Nature reports that an average earthquake produces hundreds of millions of volts.
- During the upheaval of the global flood pressure in the crust produced enormous voltages that produced plasma surges in the crust.
- Those voltages smashed together the nuclei of atoms to create, in the crust, radioactive elements and massive, instantaneous apparent radioactive decay.
- The only alternative theory DOES NOT EXPLAIN THE ORIGIN of radioactive elements. The Big Bang's chemical evolution theory claims that such elements were created in stars. Yet famed cosmologist George Gamow wrote that, "the temperatures in the interior of stars are measured in tens of millions of degrees, whereas several billion degrees are needed to 'cook' radioactive nuclei from the nuclei of lighter elements."
RSF: Good Mutations Occurring On Demand
* Blyth Institute Research on Mutation By Design: Bob Enyart interviews Jonathan Bartlett, the layman who founded the Blyth Institute (.org) after spending years researching the nature of mutations to understand the genetic disease that tragically took the lives of his two young children. It turns out that while many mutations are random and apparently neutral or often harmful, our body itself intentionally induces a large percentage of mutations and targets them often at miniscule segments of the DNA with beneficial and needed results.
